Effort and Ease

A simple reminder to balance effort 👩‍🍳 and ease 🧖 today. This helps us to be both more mindful and more productive. We are all susceptible to the ‘go-go-go’ 🏃 mindset at times, thinking that we simply have too much to do before we are able to rest. Many of us even live in that state.

But that is not a sustainable place to be.

We must replace that productivity-based mindset with a healthy, balanced ☯️ mindset. We simply cannot live a healthy lifestyle in a chronic state of stress. We must learn the value of balancing effort with ease.

Effort and Ease

Examples:

  • For every hour ⏳ of work that you do, remember to take at least a 2-minute mental break. Stop what you’re doing, close your eyes 😌, relax your jaw, drop your shoulders down and focus on your breathing 🧘‍♀️.

  • After you’ve spent time preparing a meal (breakfast 🥞, lunch 🥪 or dinner 🍲), take the time to savor every bite 🍽️ of food. Notice the smells ♨️, the temperature, the textures, the flavors 🍛. Truly enjoy the fruits of your labor.

  • Once you’ve finished washing and drying your laundry 🧺, wrap yourself in a warm piece of clothing 🧣 straight from the dryer. Enjoy the moment. Smell the fresh laundry, feel the warmth enveloping you. Take a deep breath 🌬️.

  • Spent the morning weeding and watering 👩‍🌾 your garden? Take a moment to walk around it and enjoy the various fragrances, admire the beautiful flowers 🌷, smell the herbs 🌿, appreciate the fruits 🍎 and vegetables 🥕 that will provide your body with nourishment.

  • After a yoga session 🧘‍♀️, spend some time in savasana. Do not skip it in favor of ‘getting on with your day’, of doing something ‘more ➕ productive’. After a yoga class, savasana IS the most productive thing you can do.

I’ve done 1, 2 and 5 today. How do you plan on striking this balance today? Let us know in the comments!
