Health & Wellbeing

Staying healthy doesn't have to mean breaking the bank 💲. You don't have to spend a fortune at a gym🏋️‍♀️or on special workout gear 🎽. Supporting optimal health and wellness can be as simple as making a few consistent choices each day. So, without further ado, here are five things you can do daily to support your health and wellbeing that are absolutely FREE!

  1. Get some Vitamin N

  2. Take a walk

  3. Get 7-9 hours of sleep

  4. Spend time with loved ones

  5. Repeat daily affirmations

Let's go into further detail on each of these.

Vitamin N

What is Vitamin N, you ask? Why a daily dose of Nature, 🌲 that's what it is! And it is ESSENTIAL for our health and wellbeing. Whether you choose to spend time in a green space 🌳, near a water source 🌊, up in the mountains🌄 or gazing at the night sky🌠, there are health benefits to be had with each!

Some of the amazing benefits of spending time in nature include:

  • boosting immunity due to exposure to phytoncides (active substances emitted by trees) in forests

  • calming the nervous system

  • reducing stress

  • increasing mindfulness

  • and so much MORE!

Take a Walk

Taking a walk will hopefully get

you out into nature so we can add the Vitamin N benefits to this along with the physical benefits of engaging in cardiovascular ❣ activity. Walking is a great way to move the body, improve heart health, regulate blood sugar and practice mindfulness. So, get outside more and move your body! Whether it's a ten-minute walk several times a day or a 45-minute power walk, reap the benefits of this free activity!

Get 7-9 Hours of Sleep

Sleep

This is perhaps the easiest of these options to skip since the society we live in constantly promotes the idea of doing more. Work more. Earn more. Exercise more. Be more. Do more. With all that we've been taught that we must DO, it's easy to skimp on sleep in order to try to fit it all in. But by not getting enough sleep, we are sabotaging our health and wellbeing. Our bodies need rest in order to heal and repair from all the things that we do each day. By not getting sufficient sleep, we are slowly tearing our bodies down. Over time, this leads to a host of chronic conditions. So be sure to get between 7-9 hours of sleep each night!

Spend Time with Loved Ones

This may be one that is often overlooked in the health and wellness industry because it's not as obvious as eating nutrient-dense foods 🥗 or getting in some exercise🏃‍♀️ each day. But just as important to our overall health and well-being is the sense of community that we build. A study done on an Italian community in Pennsylvania in the 1960's highlighted the profound impact that community has on one's wellbeing. It showed that having a social support system 🤗 just may impact your health more than what you eat, your level of exercise and even whether or not you smoke!
